If he perform force lightning, i think his machines on him will be motherboard fried and shut down.

thought i'll also point out that Vader's lousy fighting style is such b'cause of his need to protect his central line so that his control box dun get damaged. thus his slashing moves.

I wonder why vader dun want to redesign his armour. Isn't him good at fixing?
