But it's kinda logical.

You see when we are asleep in the east at night, we're dreaming while being unconcious.
Whereas, he's in the west in daytime, and awake. He'll just be imagining or meditating or day-dreaming or having a nap; so he connects and tap into the collective dreamscape conciousness and gleans over the dreams. And from there get the ideas from our dreams and so "steal" our sci-fi dreams.
That could be an explanation why so many sci-fi originates from the West.
