Your Reviews of Star Wars Episode 3 : Revenge of the Sith
SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!
Phew, just made the journey home from the last show at GV Grand.
Many of you knew of my fear the past year or so about Episode 3, especially after the stunning films that were The Matrix ( only the first one ) , and the LOTR trilogy . I felt that George Lucas had all the technology that he needed, but none of the stunning visual flair of Peter Jackson and the Wachowski brothers, the skill he needed to deliver a final installment that would do justice to the entire Star Wars saga and give us fans the closure we needed.
Well, my mind is in a whirl now. What I saw on screen tonight, nope... wrong word, what I experienced tonight, was mind-blowing . From the moment the Fox fanfare sounded to the very last scene on tatooine with the double sunset , it was an experience that left me with sense of relief that I thought I would not feel , especially after Episodes 1 and 2 .
My first thoughts tonight, before my mind officially shuts down ....
Episode 3 is as visually stunning as any of the best work from Peter Jackson or the Wachowski brothers . George Lucas and his team pulled out all stops , and I loved, absolutely loved, what I saw on screen tonight. Brilliant....
Hayden Christensen was not as bad as I feared. Definitely not as whiny as he was in Episode 2, and I think I finally understand what George Lucas first saw in him . He did good .
Episode 3 was as good , to me , as any of the original trilogy , lightyears ahead of the first 2 prequels, and I was so happy from the first scene because the spaceships looked as battle worn as they did in the original trilogy, very unlike the shiny vehicles we saw in EP1 and 2. Many vehicles from the original trilogy also made their appearance again in EP3, including the Star Destroyer, the Death Star . It was also cool to see so many old characters reappearing, including a very young Peter Cushing lookalike as Grand Moff Tarkin.
I was really happy about how George Lucas managed to tie everything together , and to bring the whole saga full circle. He may not be the greatest scriptwriter or director , but I give him credit for what he managed to pull off with Episode 3. This is embarrassing to say, but Episode 3 was the only film of the 6 that made me shed a tear or two . I was absolutely stunned that Anakin killed the younglings.
So many more things to talk about , but I have to crash out now. More tomorrow, and a fuller review once I have seen the film a second time.
Right now, I'm just very happy, and very, very relieved !

It's morning, I've had time to let the film sink in, and I am still reeling from it !
I'm looking forward to seeing it again tonight ! Last night's print at GV Grand Hall 6 was bad , with a lot of glitches in the sound. PLUS the projectionist cut of the end credits prematurely, to the boos and derision of the 100 plus fans who stayed back for the end credits.
Hope tonight's screening at GV Marina Digital screen is better.....
I also hope to hear more reviews from you all please.

Hey Daniel,it was an experience that left me with sense of relief that I thought I would not feel , especially after Episodes 1 and 2
I know exactly how you feel after Episodes 1 and 2 left some of us disappointed. A minute of so into EP3 and I thought to myself "Hey , this is going to be different ". Well my initial feeling was right and I thoroughly enjoyed the show (experience), something that I've not felt with EP 1 and 2.
The most memorable part for me was when Order 66 was issued. Can't wait to watch it again. I'm sure most of you feel the same.

but I somehow felt a little shortchanged that Obiwan quite easily cut off one of his hands, then another... and finally finished him off in primitive "uncivilised" laser blaster fashion...

Would have loved to see him engage in battle with multiple Jedi at the same time...
