Converted just about all my favourite tapes to CD when I realised that CD was gonna be around for some time... couldn't live without the music, should the gadget known as the casette tape player become completely and totally obsolete... :(

Why do that when MP3 CDs are a penny a dozen? You can find almost any kind of songs in MP3, and one CD comes with like 5 to 6 albums of songs...

As for myself, I just turn on the radio and I can hear all my favourite songs from way back then. I haven't bought a CD in years!

Surprisingly, the cassette and cassette player is still very much alive..maybe due to its easy recordability without the need for complicated equipment...

It really didn't seem long that he sang '1999'... Now it's already 2006... '3121'? The Earth might not be around by then...

Not sure what you mean died....

If it does not turn, then chances are the rubberband that turned it broke or melted.
If sound is bad, clean the head.
If sound appear ok but sounds like a motorboat, no point keeping, amplifier circuits gone
If not even the radio works, power supply kaput, throw it away.
You just need to see what is working and what is not and from there it is usually possible to troubleshoot what went wrong.
Find, fix, finish

Mine is HIFI System which include LD, CD, VCD and Double Tape Recorder, put the tape in power ON, push Play Button, no movement
no sound for both tape recorder. Dont think its rubberband as it is all mechanical inside n out, have unscrewed the back panel to see. All LD, CD n VCD can play with sound so any suggestion to bring it back to life is really appreciated, thank you.

No offense meant here, but MP3 CDs don't quite have the same sound quality of original CDs or audiophile CDs... ok, that and the fact that some CDs come packaged with little bonus extras... but mostly, I enjoy buying original CDs, because the artist gets paid for his/her hard work... and being someone who is very much into music and the music industry, I have a healthy respect for artists earning a living doing what they have the talent for... so buy original, say no to music piracy!

*omigosh! I sound like some kind of campaign*

Sorry, JediJean, you'll still need to send in a resume to the likes of Warner to get a job there........
