I don't get this. Is the coin free with the SW ticket or you have the option to buy when you get the SW ticket? Also is it possible to get more than one coin? Any picture?

Here's the press release again :

Bringing good fortune to its owners during this festive season, 20,000 privileged visitors will receive these special limited edition medallions with every purchase of an ADULT ticket to The Art of Star Wars exhibition from 26 January to 9 February. Exclusively minted by The Singapore Mint, these medallions carry the image of Darth Vader on one face and the Year of the Dog 2006 design on the reverse.

The coin is FREE with every ADULT ticket purchase. ( I've double checked this with Singapore Science Centre ) You can get additional coins by purchasing additional tickets. :)

Just curious....

Is the coin legal tender? I don't think so.

What is the coin made of? copper? silver?

Any idea?

I used to collect coins so these details interest me.

Not interested, its actually the same as buying the coin for those who already visited the exhibition. A gimmick to boost flagging attendence by the science centre.

I believe the market will be flooded with these coins in the next few days and chances are high that u can get 1 for less than $18.

That may be so, but it doesn't change the fact that it makes a very nice collectible , and may appeal to some collectors who like collecting premiums like these.

It's certainly a bonus for those who have yet to see the exhibition , or who intend to see it again. After all, it comes absolutely free with an entrance ticket , it's not like you have to buy a ticket for a chance to buy the collectible, you know what I mean ?

You probably will be able to get one for less than $18 in a couple of months , but for those who have been planning to visit the exhibition again, it certainly is a bonus .

So, gimmick or not , I'd say, bravo Science Centre, bring on more gimmicks before the exhibition ends its run !

it's a nice medallion worth collecting ... and it's meaningful as it comes from SINGAPORE! 8)
