Turning to the dark side... (well, grey actually)

Post by dranoel » Mon Feb 25, 2008 1:17 pm

Donning a Star Wars costume can be addictive... and Thanks to Paul and Don, I had the opportunity to be a hot guy in a cool outfit at Chingay 2008. Hot - it's hot as can be wearing a winter coat in Singapore climate. Cool - it's Snowtrooper duh :lol:

Maybe I fried some brain cells, but the good news is that I am now thinking of getting on board.... but not as a Snow though (sorry Don :P )

I am planning to start with something light (in terms of number of items to get, and storage space needed), before I find some way to clear enough storage room for anything more. So I decided to start from the bottom then.... as a rank-and-file Imperial Scanning Crew.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
[Updated status on 18 May] Complete !!! :twisted:
1) Grey Coverall with Imperial logos
2) Black Imperial Cap
3) Black Imperial Belt
4) Black Imperial Boots
5) CommPad on left hand
6) Code cylinder for the left arm
No Darth Vader? :lol: :lol:
Anyhow, if you want, I got the Imperial Logo Patches, both the 3" (in hand) and 3.5" (coming in soon). You can get it off me if interested. :wink:
For the Cap, if dun mind for its "Boxiness" can get it from CostumeBase off eBay and if lucky, get it delivered to the shop at Chinatown Point (or try ordering it at the shop and wait for it to arrive). A direct purchase from the Shop cost me SGD24.90 and think can get it cheaper from eBay.
Same goes for the Belt, CostumeBase got it.
Or if want to be more accurate, I think Desmond got the Belt Buckel Blank at hand still tho' I'm not sure if the Army Market Leather Shop Uncle still want to do belts.
Very well-titled. I thought you have gone back to hypernating.
I could sweat by watching you and feel the heat when you were behind me. These I can testify cos I stood next to him in the parade.
Come on Snow trooper is not that hot for me after all. . . I wore that piece of Arts in Singpore can't recall how many times and also again in Taipei in Summer my 1st overseas trooping .
This is good for those that don't perspire so much. . .I think which is Me and me only.
Well Good for Dranoel that you have decided to come on board as something else. . . I will leave the sourcing to the experts.
Will see u soon. :)
Thanks for the good tips and advice from various members.
I had a head start today.... literally. Bought the Black Imperial Officer Cap from Pan-in-the-box at Chinatown Point :)
Did not get the belt yet though, cos the one they had wasn't quite long enough for me.
As for the coverall, Paul I will follow you to the Imperial Tailor. Thanks renzaijh for the added info on the blueprints too. Haldir, I will get a pair of the 3.5" Imperial Logos from you.
Boots... now this is problematic, as I have been forewarned. I am still surfing through ebay for a pair that can fit 18" calf circumference. Any lobangs from anyone would be much appreciated. Thanks! :)
Make sure you get a size or two up from what you would normally wear. That way, the calf would be bigger as well.
I have added status updates to my first post... and corrected the title. Got to be firm that I am sticking with GREY, after an almost convincing but failed attempt by someone to persuade me to go Black (TI/IG) :lol:
This morning, a couple of legion members escorted me to the location of the Imperial Tailor to deliver very important data specifications - the measurements for this new recruit's uniform. And so, the Imperial Tailor is now working on my GREY coverall.
I have managed to tag onto an order for the CommPad from JRS forum, so that's taken care of.
My top priority now is to hunt down the Black Imperial Officer Boots.
I read that code cylinders are normally carried by Imperial Officers, but this particular scanning crew has access to important technical specifications and equipment. So I am planning to place one code cylinder in the upper left sleeve. Anyone got a spare cylinder?
Rid, these are good boots and accurate/acceptable to the CRLs.
Leo, nice find and even better price!
Stay safe,
Tim.
