Nothing.

To him, it's just another R2 unit.

It's unlike C-3PO which was built by him.

I am not too sure about that.

R2D2 is a gift (perhaps on loan) from Padme to him as Anakin.

Now that you mention it, i kinda remember reading in the ROTS adaptation that Padme asked Anakin to treat R2 as a friend
