20 years in Tatooine without access to brasso and chrome polishing compound can do that to your lightsaber...

BTW it's called 'weathered', a sure sign that a lightsaber has been used and not just for show
Yup that's the word. I was going abit crazy and forgot that term.

To add on to what was said earlier...

Another possible reason for why Vader's lightsaber fighting keeps improving from ANH to ESB to ROTJ... possibly because the technology used for his mechanical body gets increasingly advanced with time, enabling him to move better and with more agility, despite his age.

For me, it wasnt so much as Vader's lightsaber technique improving as the saga progresses, but more of what the situation demands of him. In the novel Dark Lord, Vader displayed some spectacular moves in his fight with Roan Shryne which rivals that of ROTJ's. But when we come to ANH, Vader's fighting style seems to have taken a step back... I belive (real life explaination aside) this is in part due to the constrains of the Death Star corridor which limits the duelists' movements and in part also due to the fact that Obi-Wan wasnt much of an opponent to Vader. Years of living under Tatooine's harsh twin suns and the lack of training could do that to anyone, including Obi-Wan, who apparently have aged prematurely (he looks 10 yrs older than he really is!)...

Can it be that the suit/armour/survival suit worn by DV prevents him from doing acrobatics? Imagine all the parts falling off him or gets in the way as he jumps and flips.

Too heavy to even jump or roll around

Hmm if one is to look to the novel, Vader is initially portrayed as not satisfied with the suit, finding it cumbersome & had to rely quite often on the Force to get his prostheses to move properly (particularly his legs). His suit is top heavy too meaning that every heavy step has to be executed well lest he topples over. But by the last quarter of the story, as Vader taps deeper into the Dark Side, he actually becomes more agile, being able to perform some jumps and leaps with a small degree of grace.

If vader dislike the suit, why don't he redesign one. he's good at fixing and mechanics, isn't he?
