I am about to be assimilated (Star Trek)
Hologram by its nature is not solid. In order for ST personnel in holosuites to interact with the holograms, force fields and replicator technology would be used. This mean you can shake hands with a holographic human or non-human and they feel solid to you (force field). You can drink tea and tea is real to you (replicator). Usually the safeties are on to prevent users of holosuites from seriously hurting themselves. In the movie, Picard switch off the safeties, reproduce machine guns and bullets and shoot the Borg with it.
Find, fix, finish
There are still some implants left on Seven's face and body ... the optical node implants on her left eyebrow (isn't it sexy? hehe) ... a star-shape transceiver implants on her right cheek (same implants grow on Picard is his dream in ST:First Contact movie) ... and Borg nano probes injector implants on her left hands.Commander Faie wrote:But why is one part of her face still have a little mechanical thing there?
When a species is fully assimilated, some of the vital organs have been removed and replaced by technology depending on the job the species is assigned to by the Hive Mind ... So some assimilated drones have their arm replaced by mechanical devices ... some drones have an eye removed and replaced by a more advanced visor which can scan for infrared, ultraviolet and and other multiphasic spectrum ... and all drones lost their hairs which is considered as useless body parts.
May the Force Live Long & Prosper ...

He he he...Doc, your explanation may just confuse Faie further. Let me try to put it in layman terms...Commander Faie wrote:Wow that's great stuff. But why is one part of her face still have a little mechanical thing there?
Those 'little mechanical thing' on Seven, as detailed by our own good doctor, are the remaining Borg implants which could not be remove without causing irreparable damage to her physical body, or prefer not to remove because its way more efficient then her original human organ, or better then anything Federation technology can provide.
Remember the word 'efficient'. You will come across it many many times in 'Voyager'
