Droids Comics was published under Marvel Comics imprint Star Comics in the mid-80s rougly based on the Star Wars: Droids Animation TV Series.

The Series lasted for 8 issues after which it was cancelled. The story was set around 6-10 years before Star Wars Episode 4 and ended the last 3 issues with a different perspective of Star Wars: A New Hope as seen through the Droids.

Years later, Dark Horse Comics would release a spin off of the same name ......

Droids #1: R2-D2 and C-3PO are sended by the Intergalactic Droid Agency to the tiny planet Dodz to serve their new master, crystal merchant Lott Kemp. When the droids arrive on it they discover that Kemp have missing and his home has been destroyed. Then Artoo and Threepio meet Jost Ellon, an orphan boy which lives hiding of Governor Kugg, a cruel alien who has dominated Dodz with his killer droid, Destroyer, and he requests heavy taxes to the Dodz's citizens. Traveling to the Ellon's home, Artoo and Threepio discover in it a Ranger X-One, an old defense droid used many years ago to protect to the crystal mines workers. Activating the Ranger, Ellon and droids arrive to the Citizen's Monthly Council to fight against Kugg, but he's arrive too much late: the council accepts to pay the Kugg's taxes after of the visit of him and Destroyer, which almost destroy the Council. Ellon, wanting to free his world, go to the Kugg's mansion with help of Artoo and Threepio to interrupt the taxes payment and to confront X-One against Destroyer to defeat Kugg and free Dodz.

Droids #2: Tig Fromm & Vlix kidnap the Idd family to get their hands on a high powered laser.

Droids #3: C-3PO & R2-D2 are purchased by Ambassador Zell, who wants the droids to look after his son, Llez, while he's away on business, but the boy feels neglected, and runs away and joins the space pirate Reddjak and his crew, who are using the boy to get to Zell.

Droids #4: In Part 1 of a two-part crossover comic, the droids babysit an alien baby whose parents' ship careens out of control and into a time warp. The droids find themselves on Endor, interacting with Wicket and the other Ewoks before their meeting in Return of the Jedi. The conclusion of this crossover took place in Ewoks 10: The Demons of Endor.
