Replica Guns in the UK Under Fire!

Post by erase » Tue Sep 25, 2007 12:49 pm

This was just posted on the Blast Builder's Forum:

"From October this year you can get up to 10 years in prison for importing an airsoft gun. 5 years for making a replica gun."

http://www.24dash.com/localgovernment/18826.htm

Wonder whether will this happen in Singapore or maybe is already happened.... :(

Let's be safe and aim not to be a case study. Don't carry blasters without the cover of an event and with prior notification to the organizer.

okay related to this issue, we never see those MR 1:1 blasters sold in Singapore [even at ST, the authorized MR distributor], but this yahoo auction seller "axpertzauction" said that they can import these blasters w/o being detained at the customs. i wonder why ? u can see their yahoo auctions, they put MR Boba Fett's 1:1 blaster there.

I'm sure they have it, they just don't display them. Same with shops in M'sia. I know for a matter of fact its available here.

You are still allowed toy guns and all ours, no matter how real count as toy weapons in the Engalnd. When they state replicas they mean blank firing guns and deactivated guns. Well that is my understanding from talking to my friends over there.

For a little geography lesson, try not to use the word UK as most people from those countries do not like it. We come from England, Scotland or Ireland and each country has its own flag; Hence why we do not see the Union Flag as a country flag.

UK = England, Scotland and Ireland
Great Britain = England and Scotland (Wales is officially part of England)

England has different laws to Scotland

Just call him (and everyone from that rainy, foggy, depressing set of islands) 'Meathead', and you'll be alright

No British does not distinguish the country, as British is a general term which applies to anyone from England or Scotland (A bit like calling someone a European!) Someone from England is English, Scotland scotch (scottish is wrong really) and Ireland = Irish.

If you do not like being educated do not read it, but don't post personal remarks. Personally I much prefer living in England with so many interesting places to see (and I have seen much more rain in Singapore than I ever saw in England) and a government with proper separation of powers. Study Law and you will soon see what I mean!

Anyway, we are getting of the thread here so I think we should end this discussion here. We all have our individual view from personal experiences and I respect each and everyones opinion and don't mind which side of the fence you choose to sit.

Just remember English Law and Scotish Law are very different which was what I was trying to point out. (which is why you cannot say UK law or British Law)

And with that, I've successfully illustrated that British Blokes has no sense of humour. British lasses on the other hand, will totally get what I wrote above and giggle incessantly...

FYI I spent a good part of my youth in Britain, and have been called every 'term of endearment' like the one above. Yes I know British law quite well too. For example I know that up till a few years ago it was a legal requirement for London cabbies to carry a bail of hay in the boot of their vehicle. I also know that in it is forbidden to grow cannabis in Britain, but LEGAL to sell the seeds, and all the paraphernalia needed to cultivate the plants.

We now return you to your regular broadcast.

Now that's not a very nice comment.
You were probably just trying to crack a joke.
But it wasn't very appropriate.
Avoid name-calling in a public forum, unless it's with a very close and personal buddy.

Yeh, you are totally correct with what you say there, which is what makes common law a lot more interesting than civil Law. As Singapore and Malaysia follow the English Common Law I am sure they have some equally amusing cases to illustrate.

Just remember if you do not intend to get personal be careful how you word things as we can not see you or your body language so it can easily be taken wrongly if you are not clear in what you are stating!
