How is the condition of your MR Lightsaber after these years

Post by gundam_skywalker » Sat Dec 05, 2009 10:19 pm

Just wanted to check with MR Lightsaber owners whether your lightsaber steel parts had rusted these few years. Majority ofthe MR Lightsaber are made from Stainless Steel but there are some parts and screws which are made from normal steel which will rust. For example, the Darth Vader Lightsaber. It's ring is made from normal steel and it rust after dust and moisture attack. Please let me know does it happens to all MR Lightsaber. Thanks.

Any reference site to both FX and LE? Don't know what is the difference.

try here ... http://forcefx.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=mr

IMO, for the rubber grip, LE version used a better quality material compare to FX [as mentioned earlier, FX rubber grip become sticky after awhile, and i never displayed it]

for masteryoyo:

1) FX Anakin - rubber grip has turned sticky, metal parts have rusted
2) MR Luke ESB - rubber grip has small brown mouldy spots, metal parts still holding strong

Thanks for the info. How about the small screws? Are they rested too for the Vader Saber?

for the mini saber, the screw almost shows the sign of rust...

for the 1:1 saber, all are still okay...

For my MR Anakin Skywalker

!) Rubber parts become sticky, only after I took it out 2nd time from storage when moving house

2) Tiny rust 'pittings' in between the handle rubber strips

So any remedies for the sticky rubber??
Did the rubber become sticky due to storage??

Thanks alot bros. Anyway, seller agreed at a very good price due to the bad condition of the two sabers. But one thing good is both rubber parts are not sticky when he showed me.

i use soap + water to wash sticky rubber..
It works not 100% at least 90%

But would be a tedious job

I bought a second hand MR Mace Windu Lightsaber. It has rusted so I need to polish it. The chrome parts are fine to polish but the gold parts had lost its shine. Now it is flat and looks like brass. I think it could not be polish because I polished one part and it turns to copper color. Any idea how to restore its gold shine? Anyone here had the same problem?

hmm do u happen to live near the sea? if so then it's cuz of that.. maybe u can try putting it in a show case and using silica gel.. which u need to replace after some time too.

Yes, I just bought a tube of polisher from Carrefour. But the steel screw cannot be polished. I am intending to change to stainless steel screws.
