Kashyyyk Scout Helmet Project

Post by donleow » Thu Jan 08, 2009 3:05 pm

Finally got some time off from work and travel to work on this project which i have waited for 6 months for the parts to arrive

helmet still at its pre stage and this is from SGB. Currently there are like 17 helmets in the entire world for all i know. More will come i presume when copycats started appearing

finish sanding fixing up , priming up, still thinking of camo scheme but will do it later and also researching on the nozzles as there are alot of views and discussion on the right nozzle design due to inconsistency in CGI design.

helmet wise is pretty light and i believe is very light fiberglass if not 0.5 ABS though creator never mentioned on the origins of the helmet

Not really. There're obviously many differences between the Scout Trooper Helmet and that of BARC.

You can compare the differences by looking at Don's and my current Icon.

i hasnt done any camo yet those pics are references i been using to work on my helmet...if you asking on the sand color base prime, that is actually a the kelvar primer spray can i got years back from canada which i have used it for this purpose

not sure if i m going to do an armour out of it but if i do will update in this thread...but armour is tricky cos it comprises of both clone and bikerscout armour variants

for the newer members or folks that have less knowledge on the scout troopers, i have put both helmet together for comparison...apart from those difference that have been mentioned by our troopers here, the helmet is also non-flip version for now, though not much info has been given even from the official sw visual guide.

in the latest clone war 3d film, it is also known that the recon commandos appear as cross variant between AT-RT - urban scout and the bucket i m doing...additionally, the camo screen used in the clone wars animated movie is what military term known as digital pixel camo first adopt by canada and US...which can be found in most urban combat wear and weapons which might be an interesting approach. Noted that singapore military uniform is also adopting the same camo design going forward.

the link attached will teach u to paint in digital camo which i might attempt to try rather than the traditional camo technics.

just a quick mentioned - I have chatted to SGB abt this lid.
its FG outter coat and resin on the inside.

theres a whole back story to why its not more widely available - but I digress.

other problem with this costume - is there isnt a full kit available yet. although there are currently 3 official armourers working on moulds right now.

its a personal fav of mine, not cos I like the design (personally, it aint the most pretty of lids IMHO) - but cos its so new, and things are being built up from.... well nothings at the moment.

cant wait to see how that comes up

Nice grab Don.

Would have prefer the swamp green camo, easier to do using overlayering masking than the previous two camo schemes, which involves alot of steadiness and skills in free style airbrushing.

Maybe you should do a Cmd Gree after this to compliment your Kashykk trooper :P
