What To Make: female Imperial Officer black

Post by Grimzy » Sun Oct 10, 2010 9:19 am

Hi guys,

I'm new round here, hellos!

I'm really psyched on getting a female Imperial Officer costume made for a Halloween party at the end of the month.

Would like to ask how did you guys go about tailoring the outfit or did you alter from a Costume Base outfit, get something tailored at Costume Sky?

Also any recommendations for getting riding boots here or do they come from online?

Cheers,
Grimzy

Our Imperial Officer members get their uniform tailor made.

You can try going to a tailor shop and show them pictures.

As for riding boots you can get it online, that's the easiest instead of hunting around.

Thanks guys,

Yeah I'm rather serious on joining the 501st since I see myself wearing this outfit more than once. I reckon just spend a good sum of money and get it done : )

Yeah the boots I reckon I'll have to purchase online, winter boots not really suitable for this climate.

Cheers,
Grimzy

Movie Mania has probably the best Boba Fett in Singapore. Probably the best Darth Vader in Singapore. Probably the best Predator in Singapore. Probably the best Alien in Singapore. Probably the best Iron Man in Singapore.

So what if the person ain't serious about joining 501st? Does that mean that they cannot put on 501st-standard costumes?

I'm just saying.

Relax, bro assjedi. I strongly believe that Frodo,Naruto,Weirdo meant to say that moviemania is a possible source if Grimzy wanted to rent/borrow a good costume, since none of the 501st members are likely to lend their costumes out... I have no doubts that the costume standards in moviemania are the best that they can be.

Grimzy, it's not likely that you can get the Imperial Officer's costume tailor-made in time for Halloween. If you can't rent/borrow it, consider another costume and go slow in putting together a good officer's costume, starting with sourcing for a pair of WW2 East German Jack Boots.

Grimzy,

Let me give you a list of what you need:

1) Top (Done locally at one of our tailors)
2) Hats (Either off ebay or from one of our contacts in 501st)
3) Decoders (Think getzjedi may have some left, have to custom and paint them)
4) Leather belt with accurate face plate and disks
5) Yoga pants or similar (Depends on what type of ID you are going for, movie accurate would require tailor of pants)
6) Mid cut to Knee Level boots..(Again depends on what type of ID you are going for, Movie accurate requires East german boots)

I would think that jack boots will be hard to find right?

Riding boots are also accepted right?

@Recon: Hats can be done locally too. ;o)

@Gordon: You're right. Riding boots are acceptable, German boots are movie accurate. =o)

@GetzJedi: Thanks for explaining. =o)

Tham, that was later when i realized it...just need to provide a sample to the tailor. Oh well

Gordon, the problem is that it has become the defacto standard that our local female ids wear low to mid cut boots. Only the male ids are spotting 'flare' pants with east german or riding boots

Grimzy, yes, you can get an Imperial Officer Suit done within minimum 2 weeks at certain tailors who dare to do it and you probably have to pay more; I had mine done in 2 weeks at 2x the price others paid for theirs.
And if you're more curvy in certain areas (need proper Princess Seams, Darts etc), I recommend going to a Tailor who's more familiar with "Female-Form-Tailored" Outfits. ;)

BUT if you get a normal tailor to do your outfit, you might have to get your own cloth (just use Polyester Suiting, usually meant for Pants) or Polyester Viscose Suiting.
And unless you give details pictures and sketch, there is a chance of the tailor screwing it up so just be prepared; certain things can be fixed anyhow if given a bit more time later. ;)
