prospective trooper & some questions.

Post by Horny » Sat Jun 05, 2010 4:25 pm

hi guys,

After a long, long time ... I've decided i wanna start trooping again. Have narrowed my choices to 1) TK/TD or 2) Clone Commander, maybe Deviss.

Have some questions before i decide though:

- am planning to get a set of armor from VT. is it wise to do my own mods so can swap out parts from TK to TD when necessary? Don't have the budget for 2 suits.

- is a 'clean' TD acceptable? I mean, newly deployed to MEPD surely haven't been through that many sandstorms right?

- lastly, is 1.65 too short to bother with being a clone? read that Deviss is 1.83 lol.

As for "clean TD", check the FISD forums for the requirements for a Heavy Weapons Trooper.

Be a TK. VT comes with TD parts so no problem on upgrade.

Why be a clean TD when it's more fun being dirty?

Before 501st was founded, my previous costume was a TR. Wore that a few times, with the last being for ANH Special Edition screening back in '97. Wore it to the now-defunct Planet Hollywood & won some prize for best costume too (in those days).

Thanks for the tip on considering TK HWT instead, suits me fine!

Now I just worry about the helmet, not sure if the VT one would look proportionate for me, as I've been advised I need quite abit of trimming on armor to suit my frame.

TR days are over I'm afraid, anyways that costume is long gone & my force pike was dismantled & parts returned to the kitchen lol.

Pics prolly exist somewhere ... those were the days before digital cameras hahah.

Anyone can advise me on my helmet concerns (above) though?

I'm an AT-AT Driver at 1.69 (and on the lean side) and I wear a helmet bigger than any of the TKs. No issue for me and can't be bothered about what others say. Getting your poise right and staying in character helps the general populace view you as taking your hobby seriously. You become what you wear.

The vertically-challenged troopers, especially Stormtroopers do get the occasional "Aren't you a little short for a Stormtrooper?" from the people around. I'm a TIE Pilot and I get that too. As a countermeasure, I've increased the height of my boot heels by about 1.5 cm.
