I remember watching it in Prince theatre in 1978, my first year in U. I remember it was my first year as I went alone as I do not know that many people yet. If it had shown in 1977, it would have been in my pre-U days and I would had gone with friends. I cannot recall the exact month or day.GetzJedi wrote:According to this site, A New Hope was released in the USA on 25 May 1977...

Anybody can find out when the movie was released in Singapore?
Suggestions for ANH 30th Anniversary Celebration
Find, fix, finish
I'm IN for a Movie Marathon! Maybe as an in between entertainment, can also play things like "SW Christmas Special" or one of the great FanFilms etc etc

Anyway, I hope it's at the new Cathay as the place should be bigger rite and won't have Cineleisure Photography Policy? And does that place have a Ballroom where we can have our D&D? Heehee....maybe someone with the SW Cookbook and SW Party Books can throw in some SW Food?
And to make more interesting, a March in costume from Douby Ghaut to Cathay. So that means maybe we start from Fri Evening, followed by the Movie Marathon throughout Fri Night and Sat and then D&D on Sat Night?

I'm not too keen on having a movie marathon... We should be enjoying the company of fellow Star Wars fans and not simply sit beside one another in darkness... I would prefer a single screening of ANH following by dinner and some other activities...

Let's gather suggestions first and I'll conduct a poll thereafter... In the meantime, we'll be having several publicity roadshows to increase the fanbase... Once that is done, we can do our sums wrt the cost of having large events...Commander Faie wrote:Cost and time?

Re: Suggestions for ANH 30th Anniversary Celebration
DnD is a definitely a brilliant idea- Getz ....and probably if we can drive the payment to the similar of paying for a bbq session per head kind of pricing, it will also benefit those who are still schoolings....quantity is definitely is the winning key for sure...
movie marathon is a bit tricky here cos we might need to pay for the re-release of the tape for the movie and again we might be charge huge sum for this purpose...
really worth thinking about...DnD....
