Part 1:
The great behemoth is finally here, and while the BMF leaves most of us collectors tearing our hair out on finding display or storage space for it, the B.AT-AT leaves most of us with wide open jaws with it's dimensions of 62cm(H) x 75cm(L) x 32cm(W).

@ Godmaster: Great action pics. Noticed that you did not put up any of the stickers.

@ jenki: Yup, the platform holding the speederbike does slide out.

Yup, it's not easy, especially for the viewscreens in the speederbike's hanger. The result is satisfactory though. 8)

Part 2:

Image
We will despatch our ground troops with haste, Sir.

Image
Prep the transport. We launch in 10.

Image Image Image
We have a suspected rebel outpost in the hoth system. We have been ask to investigate.

Image Image
No questions? Move out!

And with that, let's take a look at the overall structure of the AT-AT from the reference pics...

It would seem that hasbro designers has taken quite abit of info from DK's cross-sections, with the troop section and the vehicle bay in the usual sections. And not forgetting the escape hatches on the sides.

The command cockpit:
Image Image Image
Advertised to hold 6 figures, I would say it's more feasible to hold up to 5.
The cockpit controls are all sculpted, and only the holographic screen requires stickers, and the 2 targeting controls as well. The best part of this is the translucent red panel, which allows one to see into the cockpit as evident from the rightmost thumbnail.

Image Image Image
Not forgetting, the 2 forward class-2 heavy laser cannons comes with light-up features. The holographic screen lights up as well.

Image Image Image Image Image
The movement of the head has indeed improved much from the previous designs... It can move up, down, left and right and hold positions for left and right.

Image
Approaching target coordinates...
Send out the scouts.

Image Image Image
Launching...
Speeder patrol away...

The vehicle bay is quite spacious, and can actually fit 2 speeder bikes side-by-side, if not for the action feature.
Image Image
Over here, there's also 2 more target screens, and boy, is it hard to get the stickers on them.

Image
Rebel outpost confirmed. Prepare the troops for disembarkation.

Image Image Image
Go go go!

Image Image
The troop section is indeed very spacious, and consists of 2 levels. There's a light-up feature at the front which baths the entire area in red, and also at the back, one can look into the vehicle hanger. In fact, the best part of the troop section ain't the 2 levels nor the lights, but the rappelling action which allows quick unloading of troops at 4 a time.

Next up in part 3, let's look at the action feature with allows luke to take down the AT-AT in ESB...

Yes. Thanks for this info. They really did followed quite close to the DK's cross-sections. Only smaller. If only they do the same for the BMF.

Part 3

The reenactment...
Image Image Image Image Image Image
The motorized lifting system sure is interesting, with it's speed just right.

And here's the vehicle bay again with 2 speeder bikes,
Image
In the DK book, 4 bikes can be stored.

All in all, the AT-AT wasn't really to scale, but with the current scale of it, the number of realistic reenactments or even diorama scenes is positively endless. Ignoring the AT-TE and LAAT/i, this has become my favourite vehicle for deployment of troops in high risk areas.

Thanks for reading.

thanks again dude for the amazing effort in delivering a review :D

my take is.. finally.. hasbro does something decent..morally.. :)
in a "variant" thats almost a resulpt.. meaning i guess they knocked out new moulds to crank this monster out as opposed to recycling old ones and giving us crummy vehicles with repaints... :?
this boy is dangerous

I don't agree Hasbro has done it right. Since they already invest on this, why can't they even make a correct head for the AT-AT. :?

Just took delivery of this imperial AT-AT. Aome comments to add on to this excellent pictorial review:

1) Minor complaints: (i) The AT-AT's neck is covered with a rubbery material. masteryoyo thinks that the covering willl either tear or crack overtime. (ii) the speeder bike has low quality flimsy, 'soft plastic parts such as the handle. (iii) Blaster not included for AT-AT driver
2) A major drawback is that both the head and legs are NOT detachable once snapped fit (similar to the BMF's mandibles). Unless you have a display area, try not to assemble this toy
3) Overall, an excellent toy with high play value and sturdy main body parts (good plastic). In terms of size, this AT-AT is less awesome compared to the BMF.
