Power of the Force, the line started in 1984, the dawn of Star Wars movie. The line did not lasted long as there are no movie or any other media supporting it. It ended in 1985. Below is the link for the figures released. It is under the vintage series.

The so call POTF 2 is actually Power of the Force line started in 1995. Below is an introduction by Rebelscum.
In 1995, the much anticipated return of Star Wars toys and action figures had arrived as Kenner, now a division of Hasbro, released a new collection they would dub the Power of the Force 2 (The original Power of the Force was released in 1985 with special collector's coins). It had been 12 years since the release of Return of the Jedi and 10 years since the last collection of Star Wars toys had been on store shelves. The new line featured brand new packaging and improved sculpts from their predecessors. With the rerelease of the Star Wars Special Editions in 1997, George Lucas' timeless myth had come full circle and reintroduced itself to a new generation of fans and collectors.
The line was first introduced with a red lightsaber on the card in 1995. In 1997, with the release of the Special Editions, the card and saber color was changed to green. A special holofoil sticker was also included to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Star Wars. Since then, Hasbro/Kenner has included various add ons to its packaging. The Freeze Frame slides featured a cel slide of a particular movie scene the character was in. These slides themselves were considered collector's items and Kenner produced both a viewer (modeled after Luke's binoculars in ANH) and a binder to hold the slides. The Flashback cards released in late 1998 were a "prelude" to the upcoming release of The Phantom Menace. The Flashback cards featured a picture of the character in the Classic Trilogy. When a tab is pulled, a picture of a "related" character from the new prequel appears.
With the advent of the Commtech technology introduced in the new Episode I toyline, the POTF2 line also adopted the commtech chips in 1999. Now these new figures can recite the classic lines we have all come to know from the films.
Here is the link for the whole series of figures with variations.

Really brings back lots of memories since you bring up this topic. At the beginning, there rarest figures are Stormtrooper and Princess Leia Organa. You can find the rest of the figures easily but you can never see these two figures. I manage to get them at Clarke Quay at that era but paid double the price of retail.
The later figures are easier to get, I don't know whether they released more stock or I got better links at that time. Maybe some other collector might want to ellaborate more on their encounters.
The next few figures that I have difficulties getting are Death Star Trooper, AT-AT Driver, Death Star Droid, Pote Snitkin and Princess Leia Hoth Gear. I paid $25 for the DS Trooper, can you imagine that? The other four figures are suppose to be exclusive figures that is why the price also went up to that mark.
The final Hardest to get figure is R2-D2 with Holographic Leia under the Commtech line. This figure was short packed as there is only one R2 in each case and the rest of the figures are two each case. I managed to get two as I ordered two fresh cases from the internet. The other hard to get figure from this series is Wuher which is a Fan Club exclusive figure.

The Leia and Stormtrooper I mentioned is under the Orange Card. When I say rare, it is only the time when they just released. Now it is not RARE anymore because better Leia and Stormtrooper are released, so the older ones are being given up by collectors. You can easily get them for less than $10.
The Pote Snitkin and DS Trooper is in the POTF2 website link that I gave you. I think you can find them now at less than $20.
As for the vintage POTF, I can't tell you the value as I never collect vintage carded figures. I can't bear to spent few hundred dollars to get some thing which I used to pay at $2.90.

Freeze Frame demands high value for certain figures like Weequay, Tie Fighter Pilot and Sandtrooper because these figures are short packed an very few in quantity. I remembered I always visit the Comic Connection at Bishan Junction 8 during that time. When the stock arrived, people will snatch up all the new figures like Biggs Darklighter, Ewoks, Lak Sivrak, Ishi Tib and so on. The left overs will be the repacks in which I believe Weequay would be left over inside one of the box. I would have taken it if I know its value. But I was very lucky at a later time to find Tie Fighter Pilot at Comic Connection at Bukit Panjang. I asked the storekeeper how much he is selling it. He told me $11.90 which I thought I heard wrongly. Obviously, the storekeeper does not know the value of this figure. I took it immediately.
I think what you should collect is just POTF 2 (Orange/Red and Green Cards) Don't go the vintage direction or a complete carded set will run perhaps into thousand..
I am currently still collecting only Red carded POTF 2 as I feel is possible to complete. Green one too many if you're going into variation such as collection 1,2,3. It can be seen at the back of card..either .01 .02 etc. Many figures have ben released on various collections. Also don't forget the purple carded Shadow of the Empire line..
Everything is quite easy to get on ebay as they released in too much in quantity..Seeing the reaction they got selling vintage toys..Hasbro decided to go all out in the numbers they churn out.
Hardest to find I'd say is the Expanded Universe line..Spacetrooper, Darktrooper, Mara Jade etc along with foreign cards such as Italian, Spanish and French. French has their POTF 2 with uncut corners so the top left is not cut to darth vader's head but all reactangle..Then there is the THX inserts variation where they put a piece of 'catalog' in the plastic packaging..I also found Korean edition POTF 2 but they just pasted a korean label on top of US cards..
Good luck with your hunt..lmk if you need any help.
Oh, one more thing to look out for..classic edition 4 pack where they redid vintage style figures..one of my fav in my collection
