I keep them in the original carton boxes. Fits snugly, don't have to worry about the figures being damage.

If storing them I keep them in original shipping cartons like hbng mentioned. If displaying I use starcases and if it is a very rare valuable item I use acrylic cases

And it's just way too expensive. As for loose figures, I've always been thinking of the cheapest way to use acrylic cases to display them.... just too ex.

I have 2 acrylic cases that have plastic tab hangers on the back so that they can be hung on the wall. I think I know of a site that sells them for pretty cheap but will have to check my bookmarks on my home computer for the link and will post it.
I've got a nice acrylic case that will hold 30 loose figures and I dont think it was too expensive. I bought it at a convention back in 1999 however. I think they sell similar ones on ebay now.
it has a mirrored back and will hold even large figures like amanaman

Its the deluxe acrylic cases and start at about $11 per case and have hanging tabs so you can mount them on the wall. They should hang on a nail
