Never expected so much Star Wars stuff, and at good prices too!
Reached there slightly after they opened at 11am, and had to spend another 10 minutes in the queue to enter the merchandise area. It was cruel how the queue was made to go around the perimeter fencing, and I could see that the figures were disappearing fast in the meantime :(

Saw a couple of familiar faces/collectors were in there... but unfortunately, also saw a familiar CSC shop owner. Oh well, hope he doesn't jack up the prices too much.

It was nice to chat with a fellow Star Wars fan, Kenneth, who was getting figures for his son. Also an enjoyable experience was helping a little kid search for figures he wanted. Although he had not yet seen the movies, his interest for Starwars grew from the toys he had seen in the department stores, and his mum had also brought him to the AOSW. Hope he has fun with the figures we managed to get :)

and here's the part you are waiting for... the field report (with additional updates from Valentin at 1.20pm)
orange indicates low quantities, probably gone by now...

$50 Vader Voice Changer Mask (about 6 left at 1.20pm)
$20 Unleashed Vader (10 to 15?)
$15 Spud Trooper / Darth Tater (lots)
$15 500th Figure Vader
$13 Palpatine 12" (10 to 15?)
$7 Deluxe 3.75" (Yoda with Cancell, Vader Operating Table)
$3 ROTS 3.75" (Jedi-kick Obiwan, Yoda, Tarfful, Wookie Rage Chewie, Red Palpatine, Kit Fisto, Plo Koon, Shaakti, Dooku, Super Battle Droid, C-3PO, R2-D2)

Other stuff heard from earlier birds
$15 Sith Evolutions (verified by 9, but all gone within first half hour)
$7 Deluxe 3.75" (Speeder bike) (bad intel... thankfully or I would have kicked myself for having missed this!)

That's comforting to know that there weren't any in the first place :)

The Deluxe,Spud Trooper & the ROTS figs are really worth it man :D

==============================================
Anyway...

didnt go there but was told by a friend that there were misunderstandings during the rush by the first few who queued. Must be because of toy grabbing...what else? :D

Dont know if it's true but I'm not surprised. It's been that way since the 1997 TAKA star wars fair. I witnessed a few people got mobbed & even a few guys was pushed against the mobile display pegs which eventually fell one by one like Dominoes...all 5 of them in one isle. All the figures on the pegs were crushed.

I can tell you one thing...after that incident..I never try to beat anybody to be the first few....its crazy & dangerous especially if you bring kids. I just take my time maybe go a few hours after opening. Anyway..Im too old for this s**t...haha

Ugly Collectors will always be anywhere in the world...now & then..nothings change

Toys R Us Sale

Post by inuka » Fri Apr 28, 2006 4:15 pm

I wasn't there too, got to work. :(

The ROTS figures at $3 each looks a good buy although I believe that if I am there, I'll probably end up looking at only the Wookie Warriors! In any case, I don't really like to wait in a long queue so would rather give it a miss or drop by this evening after work just to "look see look see". :)

Thankfully, no.

You don't know how the edgy feeling is like, when you are not just buying for yourself, but also helping a couple others... including a certain hbng to buy some figures

Considering the way people tend to be so easy with stone-throwing these days... phew!

I was at Taka earlier and managed to buy a Snowtrooper (UGH)! Then I cross over to Metro@Paragon and got a Anakin, a Obi-Wan and a Han Solo, all of them the UGH versions! There are a few more Anakin and Han Solo (UGH versions) at Metro. All are selling at the retail price of $17.90. :D

Only a few "Skirmish In The Senate" Battle Packs left at TRU Paragon. It is selling at $49.90 each. :)

This must have been my lucky day!
