You need to be 18 yrs of age, earn approx SGD$30k per annum & above, and you need to have a good credit history to apply for a credit card.

However, if you are under 18 or don't earn enough...or if you just decide to, the other option is to get a debit card. OCBC has a great Visa debit card which I use alot. Also, UOB and DBS have a debit Mastercard you can apply for. You use it like a regular credit card but it deducts directly from yr account like NETS. Just make sure you have enough money in yr account. You can also link it to yr Paypal account. I much prefer to use my debit card to my credit - its alot less hassle and I don't have to worry about paying my credit card bill late and getting hit with late fees.
