LOS ANGELES : Not content with big and small screen successes, director George Lucas' Lucasfilm and composer John Williams are putting together a show for the stage.
"Star Wars: A Musical Journey", a two-hour live musical event featuring a Stormtrooper kick line and singing Wookies, is set to premiere on April 10 in London's O2 arena.
The production will be performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra as excerpts from the six films are flashed on a cinema screen in chronological order from "The Phantom Menace" to "Return of the Jedi".
Unlike traditional musicals where actors play characters from the films, this production will feature live narrators. The six Star Wars films have been edited down to two hours for the show, and composer John Williams has even rewritten the music he wrote for the movies.
After the stage show in London, "Star Wars: A Musical Journey" will embark on a European tour, complete with an exhibition of rare Star Wars collectibles, including never-before-seen models, props, costumes and production artwork.
