To side track a little, this slashing reminds me of the jp anmie Gundam Seed destiny where Kria the pliot of freedom only slash off the limbs. But what I think was obi-wan do not want to kill anakin, as he was his student and good friend.

Also Anakin did to Obi-Wan precisely the same thing Obi-Wan did to Maul, jump over & hope to slash his opponent in half. But of course Obi-Wan was wise to it

And true to his Jedi way, Kenobi did not kill Skywalker.

He just left him there. Kenobi did not help Skywalker because Skywalker didn't want to be helped.

Imagine how shattered Kenobi was when he saw his one-time student and friend lying there with only a mech arm and burning slowly.

I could cry.

Actually I thought it was because it was too dangerous for Obi-Wan to go down where Anakin was, especially since it seemed like it was too late for him. I think (I can't remember) another reason why Obi-Wan didn't kill Anakin when he could was because he wanted Anakin to suffer. Death by the lightsaber would be too easy for Anakin. I don't know where I got that theory from, but I'm pretty sure of it. Ok wait I'm not making sense. Um, bed time!
