After the past few months of offering their assurance to Yahoo Auctions users that they were fixing the problem...

Yahoo! Auctions in Singapore will be retiring.

After careful consideration, we have decided to close the Yahoo! Auctions site in Singapore to better serve our valued customers through other Yahoo! properties. Starting October 6th, 2008 Yahoo! Auctions will be closed to users in Singapore.

Yahoo! Auctions in Singapore transition timeline:

. The last day to list an item for sale is September 1, 2008
. The last day to bid on or buy an item is September 21, 2008
. The last day to access remaining site tools such as My Account is October 6, 2008
I guess they really did fix the problem afterall... permanently.
Now no one will ever experience any more problems with Yahoo Auctions!

Darn it. Now we're stuck with eBay.

Wonder if that'll drive local auction items' prices up or down til site closes...

And I wonder what problem they had >.<

Just curious, for those who sells via auctions, do you use it as a listing page? Does the auction way helps in our small market?

What's great about local auction sites vs a listing site? That is, with ebay, you have a world wide audience, but locally, unless you intend to reach out to the world, we don't usually have the huge market size to drive up bids.

Yahoo auction, is free mah for listing. Ebay have to pay a seller fee.

This is really bad news ... I was always grateful to Yahoo Auctions, because I was able to move quite a few items for the Bethany Orphanage in Myanmar , a charity I personally support.

It was important because 100% of what I sold went to the orphanage , with no seller's fee being collected by Yahoo Auctions.

Now I don't know where to go to offer my items ( Star Wars and non Star Wars items ) for sale . Drats.

Any advice from you guys would be appreciated :)
