Has Anyone Read Robota?

The pet project of Academy-award-winning artist Doug Chiang since 1993. For those who find his name familiar, Chiang is none other than our favourite Art Director for Star Wars Episodes 1 and 2. :P There's an excerpt of the beautifully illustrated film book here.

I've only seen the book once at Borders and was totally blown away by Chiang's amazing paintings. Suffice to say, I'll definitely get a copy it if I ever spot it again.

George Lucas has this praise to say about Robota "Doug Chiang's incredible artistry was the inspiration for many of the visuals in Star Wars Episodes I and II, but I knew that he was passionate about completing his own project, which sprung from a single sketch he made as a boy. Now, after years of work, that one doodle has become the magnificent, otherworldly Robota. Doug's vast talents and imagination have resulted in a terrific book."

If you've read any of the prequels "art of" SW books you'll know him  He was born in Taiwan but grew up in the States...

Some of his notable creations includes the iconic N-1 Starfighter, Jedi Starfighter, REpublic Gunship, Geonosians & TF Droids.

Warren Fu, a close associate of his, is the guy behind the creation of General Grievous & his MAgnaGuards.

I share the same sentiments exactly.

Only thing that tops this is the fact that Lucasfilm has set up shop here on this sunny island. :P :P :P

Oh you can refer to SoloFalcon's post here http://starwars.sg/forum/viewtopic.php?t=459. There was also an article on it in a previous SW insider issue.
