Online purchasing queries

Post by 9 » Wed Jul 12, 2006 12:14 pm

vpost (vpostusa/vpostjapan) is more like a parcel/mail/purchase forwarding company when you purchase items overseas from buyers who don't ship overseas.

Eg. if i bought something from ebay, i have it sent to my vpost address, does this mean i have to pay the seller the item's price + their local shipping costs, via paypal?
then i have to pay seperately to singpost for their vpost shipping back to singapore?

What about Vshopusa? What does it actually do?
Is it just an online shopping portal like Amazon.com?
I heard some do offer free local (within USA) shipping.

Any suggestions? Or anything i should look out for?

Yes, u need to pay seller (1) cost of item + (2) shipment to USA address, as well as pay vPostUSA (3) shipment to S'pore.

u may ask why ppl want to pay shipment fee twice?

well, there are 2 reasons:

1. Some sellers refuse to deliver the item to country outside USA, and u die-die want the item ... u hav no choice but to use vPostUSA and pay shipment twice.

2. Sometime the cost of (2) + (3) is even cheaper than the shipment from USA to Singapore charged by the seller ... Some seller charged a very high international shipment cost (b'cos they quoted a low selling price so that they paid eBay less commission).

Do what I do lah, make friends with the ang mohs and have them buy the item(s) and ship to you, and you just pay them the total

And you can send them something 'Uniquely Singapore' in return for their effort

Unfortunately, No.

vPost is a service offered by Singapore Post Office.

It can only be delivered to a Singapore address, see here:
vPostUSA: https://www.vpost.com.sg/vpostusa05/index.html
vPostJapan: https://www.vpost.com.sg/vpostjapan05/index.html
