... pick up dark rendezvous starring yoda, followed by labyrinth of evil which explained a lot from episode 2 and linking all that had happened the past 3 years to the beginning of episode 3 ...

Labyrinth of Evil is a really good book....I'm definitely gonna read it again before I watch ROTS.

Hard Contact is also a good read. It came as a surprise cause most game tie-ins are lame.

now LoE and ROTS novelizations are already available in paperback...try Borders or MPH...
